Be Patient and Persistant, September 4, 2010

BE PATIENT AND PERSISTANT I recently purchased Systems Mechanic from IOLO Software Labs. I was, and still am, amazed at what it can do. The first time I ran it, it uncovered multiple problems, which I quickly instructed it to fix. After that, I ran it everyday for a week, and each time it would uncover more problems. My computer started to run better after the first time I ran it, and got better each time it was run. After about two weeks, things were really working great. My computer has not run this good since I bought it, about 5 years ago. I run Systems Mechanic twice a week now, to keep my system running at top speed. I’ve tried many other ‘so called’ Speed-Up programs, but this one really works, and you get tech support with it. It’s well worth the money!

This is NOT an upgrade. It is still version 7.5, March 16, 2008

Based on the title you might think this is an upgrade from version 7 – but that is not the case. When you install this from the dvd you will find that it is version 7.5.1. So, where does the “08″ come from? Must be the year the packaging was changed. Perhaps it is a ploy by IOLO to get you to sign up for a subscription the renews annually. Fortunately you do not need to sign up to install the program. While the program is certainly capable, it is not a new release. If you already have version 7.5, don’t bother.

Excellent Utility Suite, February 4, 2010

I have run lots of utilities and utility suites, and this is the one that has managed to stay on my system. The main thing for me is that is has never once caused a crash or lock-up, much to my surprise, and I am downloading and installing their updates almost daily. That is what I don’t like about other utility programs – they eventually mess up my computer, and then I have to do a re-install of one level or another. I think System Mechanic is keeping my computer healthy – it is running Windows XP for more than a year with no crashes, and I am downloading a lot from the Web, doing installs and un-installs and getting away with it – - must be System Mechanic. You can also drill down deep into your system, there a lot of utilities within the suite.
