I have been acquiring a lot of “Blue Screens of Death” lately. Mostly regarding USB devices, but occasionally just randomly – for fun you know. I have Windows Vista on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. What do these applications do? Are there any other critical fixes for Vista out there that I should know of?

These cleaners clean up the registry. The registry will eventually be filled with all sorts of left overs from applications that did not de-install properly.

A BSOD is normally brought on by either undesirable hardware or a negative driver.

Make sure you are employing the most current drivers for all your hardware.

I use Eusing Registry Cleaner. I don’t think it’ll fix your BSODs since all it really does is delete registry keys left over from deleted files or uninstalled applications and whatnot, but your welcome to give it a try, its a free program.
